Biography

​Clayton C. Ruby is a partner at Ruby Shiller & Enenajor, Barristers, in Toronto, Ontario. Since being called to the Bar in 1969, Mr. Ruby has maintained an extensive criminal, constitutional, administrative and civil rights law practice. He received his LL.B. from the University of Toronto and his LL.M. from the University of California (Berkeley). In 2006, he was honoured with an LL.D. (honoris causa) by the Law Society of Ontario. He is the author of a textbook on Sentencing, now in its 8th edition, and the Editor of the only series of reports on the Charter of Rights: the Canadian Rights Reporter. In 2006, Mr. Ruby was made a member of the Order of Canada. In 2012, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario presented him with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. He is a Life Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada, having served as a Bencher since 1977.
