W. Andrew Oliver

W. Andrew Oliver has been a lay adjudicator for the Law Society Tribunal and its predecessor since August 2010. He was appointed as a permanent member of the Tribunal in 2013. He completed his B.A. and M.A. in Modern Languages at Emmanuel College, Cambridge and his PhD at Laval University. He taught French literature at the University of Toronto for 43 years and retired in 2009. He is now Emeritus Professor. Professor Oliver is the author of many books and articles on 19th and 20th century French authors, the founder of the prestigious scholarly journal, Texte and is the founder and CEO of Les Éditions de l’originale (www.debalzac.ca). He has authored several sets of reasons for the Law Society Tribunal. He is perfectly bilingual in French and English and has an excellent working knowledge of Spanish.
