Biography

Mark Surchin recently retired as a partner in a business law group at Goodmans LLP in Toronto where he had an active transactional and advisory practice in the area of business law. Mark is recognized as a leading lawyer in various publications and has retained his license (under Mark Surchin Professional Corporation) with the intention of helping out younger lawyers establishing their new practices as “senior counsel” while continuing to do his board work.  Mark has enrolled in the Directors Education Program offered by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Rotman school at the University of Toronto with a view to obtaining his ICD.D designation.  Mark also teaches Business Organizations at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto.

In 2023, Mark was elected as bencher of the Law Society of Ontario.  He also serves on the governing boards of LawPro and of Brandeis University in the Greater Boston area.
