Rules of Conduct and By-Laws

The Rules of Conduct and By-Laws, passed by the Law Society of Ontario, outline the responsibilities of lawyers and paralegals who are licensees of the Law Society.

The Rules of Conduct detail the Law Society’s expectations regarding licensee conduct. These are rules that, if violated, constitute professional misconduct.

The By-Laws also detail the Law Society’s expectations regarding licensee conduct. The By-Laws dealing with conduct are mostly related to licensees’ responsibilities in dealing with the Law Society and their books and records.
