Biography

Paula Callaghan has run a private Paralegal practice in Ottawa since obtaining her license in 2011, focusing on Small Claims and Landlord Tenant Board proceedings. She also works as an Instructor and Paralegal Program Coordinator at a local private college. Her outstanding contributions to the Paralegal profession were recognized by the Law Society of Ontario, which awarded her its William J. Simpson Distinguished Paralegal Award in 2022. She also received the County of Carlton Law Association’s (CCLA) Paralegal Award in 2021. Paula has also served as the CCLA’s past Chair of the Paralegal Committee and past Paralegal Trustee to the Board of Directors. 

 

Her past volunteer work also includes serving as the former Chair of the Ontario Paralegal Association Government & LSUC Relations Committee, and as the former chair of the Policy Committee for the Paralegal Society of Ontario. In the community, Paula gives back by providing pro Bono services to people living with disabilities through Reach Canada. Her charitable activities also include acting in the two Lawyers Feed the Hungry plays and six CCLA Annual Lawyers’ plays, which support various charity partners each year. In addition to running her practice, teaching, and volunteering her time, Paula also mentors’ students and new Paralegals, providing support and guidance as they grow in the field.
