Biography

Brigitte Pilon is originally from Sudbury. She moved to Ottawa in 1984 to pursue her legal studies. She has practiced in the areas of wills and estates and real estate transactions since the beginning of her legal career. From 1995 to 2017 she also staffed a weekly legal aid clinic at the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre.

Brigitte taught at the LSO Bar Admission Course for twelve years. Her interest in the field of education motivated her to run as a school board trustee in 2006. She served as an elected trustee at the Conseil scolaire catholique du Centre-Est (CECCE) from 2006 to 2018. During that time she sat on the committee presiding over the suspension and expulsion hearings. From 2013 to 2019 she was a member of the French Consultation Committee managing the new Law Practice Program from the LSO and was the supervising lawyer instructing candidates in real estate transactions.

Today, she continues to practice law with Stewart Pilon LPC. She has been the Executive Director of the Council of Canadian Law Deans (CCLD) since 2006. In 2017 she became a presiding member of the Consent and Capacity Board. She has been a part-time professor, teaching the French real estate transactions course, at the Ottawa common law faculty since 2010.
